Sadda Haq - Telugu lo

For the Telugu people who felt the lyrics of Rockstar were lost in translation (to English), here's an attempt at a Telugu translation.

The lyrics themselves are not very out of the ordinary, but they have this pop angst that make them catchy.

Sadda Haq from Rockstar (2011)
Singer: Mohit Chauhan
Composer: A R Rahman
Lyrics: Irshad Kamil

Thoughts on Rockstar

Karthik of Milliblog wrote that Aur Ho reminds him of Dil Se Re, it reminds me of the film (Dil Se) alright, but a different song, Satrangi Re. I like Satrangi more though (that wicked middle-eastern hook that plays throughout is unforgettable).

Rahman's voice is really suited to some songs, people say. To Naadaan Parindey, definitely. He really shines singing the chorus "Naadaa(n) Parindey ghar aaja" in that trance-like semi-monotonic voice. The layered guitar + percussion buildup from 2:30 ending at 2:52 (comes once more in the song, 4:12 to 4:41) ROCKS. The portions right after, sung by Mohit Chauhan, especially 4:55 to 5:10 are saccharine, for the lack of a better word. They remind me of some old song, can't remember which.

Tum Ko, and Tum Ho, as Karthik said, remind me of Yuvvraaj definitely- the mild percussions of Tu Hi Mera Dost and the violins of Dil Ka Rishta. I didn't like Tum Ko much, but Tum Ho because of the very haunting hum 'Ooo oohohoo.. Tum Ho'. Mohit Chauhan really nails it.

Like everyone, I thought Sadda Haq would be anthemic after addictedly listening to the promo, with a lot of verses that go with 'O eco-friendly' and 'Kyun sach ka sabak'. But it turned out to be anthemic in a different way, by being free-flowing, completely unstructured, with no verse-chorus-verse template except for the Sadda Haq part (which builds up amazingly each time!) and power guitars by Orianthi (what the hell does her name mean?).  Phani Kalyan (a composer and ARR fan) and me had this discussion about the same.

Having fallen deep in love with Aaromale, I wished and wished and wished - why won't Rahman produce ten more like these? Prayers answered. Jo Bhi Main is one. Start to end psychedelic. What I like in the song:

  • The roving guitars which kick in with the percussion at 0:48 and lurk far in the background, only revealing themselves when listened to intently (preferably in headphones).
  • The simple yet haunting tune
  • The flawless lead guitar
  • The "O yeah yeah" chant that lends the song its psychedelia.

I was certain I was going to dislike Kattiya Karoon right from the time I heard it in the promo. It had no business being in a film with rock in its title. After a couple of listens, I changed my mind. The last variation of the 'Sari ratein kattiya karoon' was nice, and when the guitar kicks in, the song takes a turn to goodness.

I didn't like Sheheir Mein initially as songs that try to be funny/satirical/cool generally suck tunewise. This one too didn't seem to be any different, with Karthik trying to be overtly 'correct' and Mohit Chauhan trying to sound cool and rebellious. But it has grown on me.

Kun Faya Kun is fine and gets better when the guitar kicks in. Hawa Hawa and Phir Se Ud Chala are, well, ok. Suresh here explains why he loves the latter.

All said, the killer tracks for me are Jo Bhi Main, Sadda Haq and Naadaan Parindey. They make the album.

Adele PARODY ft. Angry Birds :)

You can enjoy this parody if you've..
..listened to Adele's - Rolling in the deep (which most of you might have).
..played angry birds at least once (which all of you must have :) )

Funny parody and awesome singing by Adele. It sounds as good as the original one.

Lyrics of the song :

There's a fight I'm having with this chair
Can't seem to move my bum from here to over there
Water glasses are strewn about the room
Got to make a plan to do the dishes soon

This cocaine ninja is smashing dishes

My drummer was naughty so I made him face the wall
I need to get up I need a shower
I can't right now 'coz I'm Playing Angry Birds...

(playing angry birds)

(hee hee hee hee)
Can't even stop to pee...
(can't even stop to pee)
(gotta do a number three)

I have to get three stars

(boomerang pelicans)
(exploding parakeets)
And I'm playing it
(never seen a green pig)
it in my sleep
(bowling with my beak)

Red Birds yellow birds

and black ones that explode
Green pig a-holes gonna pay for what they stole
I've reset this level a hundred thousand times
This 99 cent app purchase is destroying my life

(I'm gonna squish you)
I see you laughing and bird harassing
(you stole my eggs from me)
It used to be a game but now it's personal
(your pigpen's gonna fall)
(I'm a kamikaze)

My back is itching my neck is twitching

I can't stop wishing I was an Angry Bird
(wish I was an angry bird)
(I know it sounds absurd)
with feathers and a beak
(feathers and a beak)
(Tweedle deedle deetly dee)
(I just laid a golden egg)
(I just laid a golden egg)
(Feeling sick in the head)
Am I crazy or just free.
(now I'm finally free)
(to be what I wanna be)
Now I am an Angry Bird
A bird that has no wheels or feet
I'll crash your party with my head
And I'm aiming aiming aiming saying, Wooo!

A Thousand Miles - Vanessa Carlton

Making my way downtown, walking fast
Faces pass and I'm home bound
Staring blankly ahead, just making my way
Making a way through the crowd

And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder

If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you
Tonight

It's always times like these when I think of you
And I wonder if you ever think of me
'Cause every thing's so wrong and I don't belong
Living in your precious memory

'Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder

If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you
Tonight

And I, I Don't wanna let you know
I, I Drown in your memory
I, I Don't wanna let this go
I, I don't

Making my way downtown, walking fast
Faces pass and I'm home bound
Staring blankly ahead, just making my way
Making a way through the crowd

And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder

If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass us by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you

If I could fall into the sky
Do you think time would pass me by?
'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles
If I could just see you
If I could just hold you
Tonight

Lyrics of 'Dhooram' from the movie '100% Love'

After a long time, I found a melancholic number which I liked instantly. This is composed by Devi Sri Prasad for the movie 100% Love and I also like his choice of the singer - Tippu. Devi usually prefers KK for such numbers but Tippu did perfect justice too. So no complaints. You can listen to the song here - DHOORAM

పల్లవి ||

చరణం ౧||
ఓ..

చరణం ౨||
